New Year Style Resolutions

Finally, a new year's resolution that's fun to keep!

Need motivation to stick to your gym membership? Reward yourself with a stylish new wardrobe, of course! Here are five of the top trends to follow in the new year for Spring/Summer 2014.

Floral Bloom: Wear this trend three ways - bold and vibrant, 3D blossom or I personally love this tattoo-inspired, edgy floral by Henry Holland.

Left to Right: Carven, Giambattista Valli, House of Holland

Pastel Palette: Pastels are seriously big right now and the trend is set to continue straight through to Spring. Wear this trend head-to-toe for a fashion forward look or highlight an outfit with a delicate touch of pastel accessories (crazy shoes à la Rochas not required!)

Left to Right: Rochas, Christopher Kane, Burberry Prorsum

Updated Peplum: The peplum trend from 2013 has moved on and this time finds itself slightly further down the body. Peplums were seen in all forms from petal wraps to structured ruffles on skirts, shorts and trousers.

Left to Right: Giambattista Valli, Balenciaga, Preen by Thornton Bregazzi

Sheer: What better way to celebrate the return of warmer weather than to show off a bit of skin? This trend is perfect for creating a layered look - a design aspect I love experimenting with in my own work

Left to Right: Calvin Klein, Erdem, Antonio Berardi

Pleats: There's no better way to wear a long skirt in 2014 than with pleats. Reinvented this season with metallic tones, pleats are a definite must for your new wardrobe. Schouler's metallic highlights work particularly well.

Left to Right: Proenza Schouler, Haider Ackermann, Celine

Well... with all that choice, which trends will you be trying out first?
