Spring/Summer 2014 Dare to Wear Double Denim

Forgot every preconception you've ever had about how to wear denim. The rules have been thrown out and re-written this season, with double denim being a massive hit!

Now, I can sense your reservations and I'd be lying if I said I didn't approach this trend with caution myself. But, if you take a look at the catwalk plastered with great ways to way your denim, you may just turn into a convert yourself.

The style this season - relaxed and reworked. Wear it faded, bleached, stonewashed or distressed, with mid-blues and lights being a major colour trend.

Topshop Unique

At Topshop Unique there were super sized turn-ups with a wide leg fit. Max Mara designed boxy silhouettes with washed denim prints that looked modern and fresh. Jill Stuart made denim pretty and feminine with a shoulder baring mini dress. Moschino opted for an edgier look with belts at the bust and chain wraps.

If all over denim isn't your thing, opt for denim prints as seen at Joseph Altuzarra.

Some of my favourite creations were seen at Balmain where denim was patchworked in a way that mimicked a weave and trimmed with chains.

High Street Picks

1. Skirt, Urban Outfitters
2. Dungarees, Topshop
3. Shirt Dress, Zara
4. Shorts, Topshop
5. Dress, Dorothy Perkins
6. Jeans, New Look

The great thing about the trend this season, is you needn't break the bank to fit in. Take a pair of your old denim jeans, skirt or jacket and cut it, shred it, and rework it in any way you want!
